The world’s most expensive private jets: the 2026 ranking

The most expensive private jet in the world by catalogue price is the Boeing BBJ 777-9, listed at around 450 million dollars before even the slightest interior customisation. In the hangars, the record belongs to the Boeing 747-8 gifted by Qatar to the United States, whose replacement value is estimated at 400 million dollars and which has been flying as the presidential aircraft since July 2026. Far behind these airliners transformed into palaces, the largest business jets, led by the Bombardier Global 8000 and Gulfstream G700, trade at around 78 million dollars. Here is the 2026 ranking, in two parts: the most expensive new aircraft that can be ordered, followed by the most costly jets owned by states, billionaires and stars, with the share of official figures and rumours for each.

Boeing BBJ 777-9, the 450 million dollar palace

A VIP version of Boeing’s largest twin-engine jet, the BBJ 777-9 is the most expensive private jet a client can order: 453.6 million dollars, the reference figure since its launch at the Dubai Airshow in December 2018 (442.8 million for the shorter BBJ 777-8). Boeing does not publish an official price for its VIP versions, and this price refers to a “green” aircraft, delivered without a cabin.

The manufacturer’s technical specifications give the measure of the beast: 342.7 m² of cabin space, 11,025 nautical miles (20,420 km) of range, enough to connect any two cities on the globe non-stop. The customisation, entrusted to specialists like Jet Aviation, would add around 100 million dollars to the bill.

A significant caveat: 777X certification has been delayed by years and Boeing does not expect to deliver the first 777-9 before 2027. As of September 2026, no BBJ 777X is yet flying for a private client.

Airbus ACJ350, 22 hours non-stop

Airbus’s answer to the BBJ 777X, the ACJ350 is derived from the A350-900. Airbus stopped publishing its prices after 2018: that year, its official list showed the A350-900 at 317.4 million dollars and the A350-1000 at 366.5 million, catalogue prices for airliners onto which the VIP cabin is then grafted.

According to Airbus Corporate Jets, the aircraft covers 11,100 nautical miles (20,550 km) with 25 passengers, or up to 22 hours of non-stop flight, in a 270 m² cabin. It is one of the few jets capable of connecting Europe to Australia non-stop.

Boeing BBJ 787, the Dreamliner in a private suite

More widely distributed than the 777X, the BBJ 787 had thirteen units delivered by the summer of 2025. In 2019, an anonymous client ordered two BBJ 787-9s for 564 million dollars at catalogue price, or 282 million each, excluding customisation.

Boeing announces a 249.7 m² cabin for the 787-9 and 9,475 nautical miles (17,550 km) of range with 25 passengers. The cabin is pressurised to a maximum of 6,000 feet, an asset against fatigue on very long flights. The shorter 787-8 pushes the range to 9,960 nautical miles.

Global 8000 and Gulfstream G700 at 78 million

Among business jets designed as such, the summit is contested at 78 million dollars. This is the catalogue price announced by Bombardier at the launch of its Global 8000, which entered service in December 2025: 8,000 nautical miles (14,816 km) of range, a maximum speed of Mach 0.95 making it, according to Bombardier, the fastest business jet in the world, four living areas and a cabin altitude of only 2,691 feet at 41,000 feet.

Opposite, the Gulfstream G700, certified in 2024, is listed at around 78 million dollars. Its 17.35 m cabin, the longest in the range, accommodates up to five living areas and twenty panoramic windows; it covers 7,750 nautical miles. Its younger sibling, the G800, shorter but with more endurance (8,200 nautical miles, the longest range in the range), was launched at around 72 million dollars.

These base prices are only a starting point: options, avionics and custom interiors commonly add several million to the final bill.

Dassault Falcon 10X, the French flagship

Launched in May 2021 at a price of 75 million dollars, the Falcon 10X is the most ambitious jet from Dassault Aviation. It completed its maiden flight on 19 June 2026 in Bordeaux-Mérignac: 2 hours 30 minutes in the air, up to 40,000 feet, powered by two Rolls-Royce Pearl 10X engines.

Its main selling point is space: 2.77 m wide and 2.03 m high, the largest cabin cross-section in business aviation, for 7,500 nautical miles (13,890 km) of range. It directly targets the G800 and the Global 8000.

The Qatar 747-8, Air Force One at 400 million

Delivered new in April 2012 to Qatar Amiri Flight in a business version of the 747-8, this aircraft transported the Qatari royal family for a long time. In May 2025, the United States accepted it as a gift, making it one of the largest foreign gifts ever received by Washington.

Its replacement value is estimated at around 400 million dollars, the price of a new 747-8; more cautious market valuations place it between 100 and 125 million, given its age. Transformed in Texas by L3Harris, it performed its first presidential flight on 1 July 2026. The exact cost of this standardisation, which is said to have far exceeded the price of the aircraft, has not been officially confirmed.

The Boeing 787 of Roman Abramovitch

This is one of the rare private jets whose value appears in an official document. In June 2022, the US Department of Justice obtained a seizure warrant for the Russian oligarch’s Boeing 787-8, registered P4-BDL, which it valued at approximately 350 million dollars, as well as his Gulfstream G650ER, valued at approximately 60 million.

The 787 had flown to Russia on 4 March 2022 without the export licence required by US sanctions; it was in the United Arab Emirates at the time of the warrant.

The phantom A380 of Prince Al-Waleed

In 2007, at the Dubai Airshow, Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal placed the very first order for an Airbus A380 for private use, for a reported amount of approximately 310 million dollars. The design plans attributed to this “flying palace” (Turkish bath, concert hall, garage for a Rolls-Royce) led to talk of a total bill of 500 million, a figure that remains a rumour.

The dream never took off: the prince did not follow through with the cabin customisation, sought to resell his position after the 2008 crisis, and the order eventually disappeared from Airbus’s books in 2015. For the record, Airbus’s official list showed the A380 at 445.6 million dollars in 2018.

Air Drake, the rapper’s Boeing 767

Drake’s 767 was born from a partnership concluded in 2019 with Cargojet, a Canadian freight company for which the rapper became an ambassador. The aircraft, a Boeing 767-200ER that left the factory in 1996, is registered in the US under the name of a trust company, and not that of the artist.

The figure of 185 million dollars attached to “Air Drake” has been circulating since its unveiling, without ever having been confirmed by either party: it should be read as a rumour, especially since it is a thirty-year-old second-hand aircraft, completely refitted.

Trump Force One, the gold-plated Boeing 757

Donald Trump’s Boeing 757 was built in 1991, initially for the Danish company Sterling, then served as a business aircraft for Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, before being bought by the company DJT Operations I in the early 2010s. It has 43 seats, a bedroom, a shower and numerous 24-carat gold-plated finishes.

The amount of 100 million dollars often associated with this purchase has never been established. The only official figure is more modest: in the asset declaration published in June 2025, the company owning the aircraft is valued between 5 and 25 million dollars.

Elon Musk’s Gulfstreams

The boss of SpaceX and Tesla is loyal to Gulfstream. His G650ER registered N628TS, put into service in 2016, is registered by a company based at the address of the SpaceX headquarters in Hawthorne. Observers also attribute two new aircraft to him that arrived in 2026: a G800 (N8628), registered in February, and a G700 (N7628), registered in June.

For the latter two, the owner’s name is masked in the US federal register, and the link to Elon Musk is based on flight tracking. At catalogue price, the duo would represent approximately 150 million dollars.

Taylor Swift’s Falcon 7X

The singer flies on a Dassault Falcon 7X, a tri-jet capable of covering 5,950 nautical miles (11,020 km). The aircraft associated with her, built in 2009, left the registration N621MM in 2026, which was closely followed by flight trackers, for a new one, N3200X, whose owner is masked in the US register. She reportedly parted with her second aircraft, a Falcon 900, in 2024.

The amount of 54 million dollars often cited corresponds to the price of a new Falcon 7X; a unit over fifteen years old is worth a fraction of this sum today.

How much does a private jet cost to operate

The purchase price is only the entry ticket. For a large business jet like the Gulfstream G700, estimates from specialised firms place variable costs between 4,800 and 6,900 dollars per flight hour: fuel (nearly 400 gallons per hour), provisions for engine overhauls, maintenance, fees and stopover costs.

Added to this are fixed costs, due even if the aircraft remains on the ground: from 1 to 1.4 million dollars per year, of which approximately 500,000 to 600,000 dollars for the pilots, a hundred thousand for their training, 130,000 to 145,000 dollars for hangar space and about fifty thousand for insurance. For approximately 200 annual flight hours, the total budget for such an aircraft is around 2 million dollars, and can double with a full crew (stewardess, mechanic) and intensive use.

On VIP airliners, the scale changes again: Boeing itself announces a variable cost of 10,910 dollars per hour for the BBJ 787-9 and 15,050 dollars for the BBJ 777-9, not counting cabin customisation, which ranges from 15 to 60 million dollars for a 787 and around 100 million for a 777X. For those who do not want to own, chartering a long-haul jet of the Global 7500 or G650 type is billed in 2026 at around 10,500 to 14,500 dollars per hour.

Why the price of a jet remains so discreet

Manufacturers are communicating their prices less and less. Airbus published its last official list in 2018, and Boeing does not publish prices for its VIP versions. The amounts announced at the launch of a programme, such as the 78 million for the Global 8000 or the 75 million for the Falcon 10X, then serve as a benchmark, before discounts, options and indexation.

One must also distinguish the “green” aircraft, delivered without a cabin, from the fitted-out aircraft, which is sometimes much more expensive. As for the owners, they willingly hide: trust companies, holdings and legal masking of names in the US register often make the attribution of an aircraft indirect. This is why this ranking distinguishes official prices (manufacturers, registers, judicial documents or public declarations) from figures that are based on estimates or rumours.
