The most expensive perfumes in the world: the 2026 ranking

The most expensive perfume in the world is Shumukh, by the Emirati house Spirit of Dubai: 1.295 million dollars, or approximately 1.14 million euros, for three litres of perfume in a bottle set with 3,571 diamonds. Behind it, almost all records belong to jewellery bottles produced in a few copies, from Dior to Chanel and Guerlain. In boutiques, the sums remain high but far more modest: 18,400 dollars for a litre of Baccarat crystal by Louis Vuitton, and nearly 200 euros per millilitre for the purest oud from Xerjoff. Each price below has been verified with the houses, the Guinness World Records register or documented sales, and boutique prices were recorded on 29 September 2026.

In brief

  • No. 1: Shumukh, by Spirit of Dubai, listed at 1.295 million dollars (approx. 1.14 million euros) for 3 litres, in a 1.97-metre bottle set with 3,571 diamonds (2019).
  • Guinness World Record for the most expensive commercially available perfume: No.1 Imperial Majesty by Clive Christian, 115,000 pounds for 500 ml, ten bottles in 2005.
  • In boutiques, the most expensive bottle is The Ultimate Flacon by Louis Vuitton (18,400 dollars per litre); per millilitre, it is Kampuchea Noir by Xerjoff (2,950 euros for 15 ml, 196.7 euros per ml).
  • Several viral figures, such as 1.5 million dollars for Morreale or 228,000 dollars for Passant Guardant by Clive Christian, are not confirmed by any independent source.

1 · Shumukh, Spirit of Dubai: 1.295 million dollars

Presented in March 2019 at the Dubai Mall, Shumukh (“deserving the highest” in Arabic) is the creation of the Emirati house Spirit of Dubai, a subsidiary of the Nabeel Perfumes group. Listed price: 4.752 million dirhams, or 1.295 million dollars and approximately 1.14 million euros at the exchange rate on 29 September 2026, for three litres of perfume.

The sum is primarily due to the object. The bottle stands 1.97 metres high on its pedestal and carries 3,571 diamonds, totalling 38.55 carats, pearls and topazes, nearly 2.5 kg of 18-carat gold and 5.9 kg of pure silver. Guinness World Records awarded it two titles: the most diamonds set on a perfume bottle and the tallest remote-controlled fragrance spray.

The juice, developed by master perfumer Asghar Adam Ali over 494 trials spanning three years according to the house, combines Indian oud, Turkish rose, amber, sandalwood, musk, patchouli, ylang-ylang and frankincense. The price remains that announced by the house: no sale has been made public.

2 · Golden Delicious, DKNY: 1 million dollars

In 2011, DKNY Fragrances, then part of the Estée Lauder group, commissioned New York jeweller Martin Katz to create a unique bottle inspired by its Golden Delicious eau de parfum. Announced price: 1 million dollars, approximately 881,000 euros at the current rate.

The apple, carved from 14-carat yellow and white gold, carries 2,909 stones that trace the New York City skyline. These include a 1.65-carat Paraiba tourmaline from Brazil, a 7.18-carat cabochon sapphire from Sri Lanka, fifteen pink diamonds from Australia, a 3.07-carat ruby and a 4.03-carat rose-cut pear diamond.

After a world tour, the piece was put up for sale to benefit the NGO Action Against Hunger. We have found no public record of the final amount obtained: the million dollars remains a listed price.

3 · Opera Prima, Bulgari: 200,000 euros

For its 130th anniversary in 2014, Bulgari partnered with the Venetian glassmaker Venini for a bottle inspired by Roman amphorae. The piece was sold for 200,000 euros to a private client in January 2018, after several years on display at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann in Paris: it is one of the few truly documented sales in this ranking.

The glass, which traps a gold leaf between several layers, is set with approximately 250 carats of citrines, over 25 carats of diamonds and 4.45 carats of amethysts mounted on yellow gold. The perfume, a chypre signed by Daniela Andrier, features citron, lemon and orange blossom. The capacity was never disclosed.

4 · No.1 Imperial Majesty, Clive Christian: £115,000

This is the only perfume on this list recognised by Guinness World Records as the most expensive commercially available perfume. Launched in November 2005 at Harrods in London and Bergdorf Goodman in New York, it cost 115,000 pounds sterling (approximately 205,000 dollars at the time, 134,000 euros at the current rate) for 500 ml. The house dates its creation to 2006.

Only ten bottles, in Baccarat crystal, with an 18-carat gold collar set with a five-carat white diamond; delivery was by Bentley. According to Clive Christian, seven have gone to private collectors and three travel with the brand’s collection.

The juice is that of No.1, built on creamy sandalwood, musk, clove, vanilla and vetiver, brightened with bergamot, Sicilian mandarin, ylang-ylang and neroli.

5 · J’adore L’Or Prestige Edition, Dior: 100,000 euros

In 2016, Dior dressed its J’adore L’Or extract in a Baccarat crystal amphora with a bow designed by Victoire de Castellane, head of Dior Joaillerie creation. Five copies in the world, at 100,000 euros each.

The bow combines pink gold and dark silver on either side of the ribbon, and carries 30 brilliant-cut diamonds and 10 pear-cut diamonds. The capacity was not made public. The figure of 75,000 dollars, sometimes associated with this edition, does not correspond to any announcement we have found.

6 · 1 Million 18 Carats, Rabanne: 40,000 euros

One year after the launch of 1 Million in 2009, Paco Rabanne (now Rabanne) offered a numbered luxury edition, sold to order starting from 40,000 euros for 100 ml. The 57,000 dollars often cited is merely the conversion of this price at the exchange rate of the time.

The ingot, 18-carat gold-plated and signed, is topped with a 0.3-carat diamond. It is housed in a calfskin case lined with black shagreen, with three secret drawers for refills, interior lighting and a golden lock.

7 · N°5 Grand Extrait Baccarat, Chanel: 28,000 euros

For the centenary of N°5 in 2021, Chanel asked Baccarat for its largest bottle: 2,021 ml, a volume chosen because 2 + 0 + 2 + 1 = 5. Fifty-five hand-numbered copies at 28,000 euros each, and 34,000 dollars in the United States.

The crystal, with its white label and faceted cabochon stopper, is delivered in a white lambskin case with a Baccarat crystal wand to apply the extract to the skin. Inside, the abstract floral bouquet of N°5, centred around May rose and Grasse jasmine.

8 · Flacon Tortue Red Edition, Guerlain: 25,000 euros

In January 2024, for the 110th anniversary of its boutique at 68 Avenue des Champs-Élysées, opened in 1914, Guerlain revived with Baccarat the Tortue bottle created for that inauguration, this time in red crystal. Thirty-two numbered one-litre copies, at 25,000 euros.

The red, Baccarat’s signature colour, is obtained by infusing 24-carat gold into the molten crystal. The 88 facets are hand-engraved and polished, and the collar is dressed in silk using the barbichage technique, performed by Guerlain’s Dames de Table. Inside, the Champs-Élysées extract by Thierry Wasser: blackcurrant, almond wood, rose and mimosa.

9 · The Ultimate Flacon, Louis Vuitton: 18,400 dollars

No historical edition here: the Flacon d’Exception by Louis Vuitton is in the current catalogue. It was listed at 18,400 dollars on the house’s American site on 29 September 2026, or approximately 16,200 euros, for one litre of perfume, with ordering via the concierge service.

The bottle, designed by Marc Newson, is blown in Baccarat crystal, presented under a glass globe on a natural leather base manufactured in the Louis Vuitton workshops. It is available for several creations by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, including L’Immensité and Rose des Vents.

10 · L’Abeille de Guerlain, Guerlain: 12,500 euros

In 2011, Guerlain had Baccarat carve a bottle in the shape of a bee with wings faceted like diamonds. Forty-seven 245 ml copies, sold for 12,500 euros each in the Champs-Élysées house.

The perfume, signed by Thierry Wasser, blends mimosa, green notes of grape, orange blossom, jasmine, lilac, iris root and honey. Since then, Guerlain has reserved its exceptional pieces for collectors, without a public price, up to 1.5-litre bottles in 2026.

11 · N°5 Parfum Grand Extrait, Chanel: 3,800 dollars

The largest N°5 still in the catalogue: 225 ml of extract, listed at 3,800 dollars (recommended retail price) on Chanel’s American site on 29 September 2026, or approximately 3,350 euros. The French site does not offer it online.

The bottle, cut like a diamond, features the faceted stopper that evokes Place Vendôme and rests in a satin-lined case that opens like a flower. In the same Grands Extraits collection, Coco Mademoiselle is listed at 3,565 dollars.

12 · Oudh Imperial, Henry Jacques: 2,562.50 euros excl. VAT

A French house of high perfumery, Henry Jacques lists its prices excluding tax on its online boutique. Its Oudh Imperial in “Les Essences” concentration costs 2,562.50 euros excl. VAT for 30 ml, or 3,075 euros including French VAT at 20%, recorded on 29 September 2026.

The 15 ml is 1,600 euros excl. VAT (1,920 euros incl. VAT), or 128 euros per millilitre. Built on an oud vintage named Dehen el Oudh, it then unfolds geranium, leather, patchouli, amber and vanilla.

Exceptional perfumes that are truly purchasable

Prices per bottle recorded on 29 September 2026 on the official sites of the houses, converted at the European Central Bank reference rate of the same day. Ranked by bottle price, with the price per millilitre for comparison: per millilitre, the record goes to a pure oud oil from Xerjoff, at nearly 200 euros.

Louis Vuitton, The Ultimate Flacon: 18,400 dollars per litre on the American site, approximately 16,200 euros, or 16.2 euros per ml.

Chanel, N°5 Parfum Grand Extrait: 3,800 dollars for 225 ml on the American site, approximately 3,350 euros, or 14.9 euros per ml.

Henry Jacques, Oudh Imperial: 2,562.50 euros excl. VAT for 30 ml, 3,075 euros incl. VAT, or 102.5 euros per ml; in 15 ml, 1,920 euros incl. VAT, or 128 euros per ml.

Xerjoff, Kampuchea Noir: 2,950 euros for 15 ml, or 196.7 euros per ml. The house presents it as the purest oil in its XJ Oud collection, composed of a single ingredient. In the same vein, Amphorae attar oils are sold on request from 1,500 to 1,700 euros for 12 ml, up to 141.7 euros per ml.

Roja Parfums, ROJA Parfum: 2,500 pounds for 100 ml, approximately 2,920 euros, or 29.2 euros per ml. This is Roja Dove’s personal perfume, a chypre of rose, jasmine, iris and oakmoss on a base of leather, ambergris, benzoin and vanilla.

Creed: the highest prices concern large formats, such as Aventus in 980 ml at 1,900 dollars on the house’s American boutique, approximately 1,670 euros, or 1.7 euros per ml.

Clive Christian, No1: 750 euros for 50 ml on the European site (650 pounds in the UK), or 15 euros per ml. The feminine version claims 248 components, the masculine 222, with sandalwood aged for fifty years.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait de parfum: 745 euros for 200 ml, or 3.7 euros per ml.

At Chanel, Les Exclusifs remain far from the Grands Extraits: Coromandel extrait de parfum is listed at 440 dollars on the American site.

Why such prices

In unique pieces, the perfume weighs almost nothing in the total: one pays for the crystal, the gold, the stones and the workshop hours. Shumukh or the DKNY bottle are works of jewellery. At Baccarat, which crafts the exceptional bottles for Chanel, Guerlain or Louis Vuitton, each piece is blown, cut and polished by hand, and editions are limited to a few dozen copies.

In perfumes sold in boutiques, it is the raw material that dictates the price. Oud, or agarwood, is born from an infection of the Aquilaria wood, which secretes a fragrant resin in response. Its rarest qualities, such as kinam, are harvested in minute quantities: hence the 196.7 euros per millilitre for a pure oud oil.

Ambergris, a secretion formed in the intestine of the sperm whale then aged at sea before washing up on beaches, provides a warm, marine note with remarkable longevity. Its harvest, left to chance, makes it one of the most expensive materials in perfumery; most perfumes today prefer synthetic equivalents like ambroxan.

Iris is not processed as a flower but as a root: the rhizomes of Iris pallida dry for about three years before being distilled to produce an iris butter among the most costly in the perfumer’s palette.

The Taif rose, a variety of Damask rose cultivated in the heights of Taif, Saudi Arabia, is hand-picked at dawn in spring for a rare oil highly sought after by oriental perfumery. The same requirement applies to May rose and Grasse jasmine, hand-picked and at the heart of N°5.

Finally, there is the concentration: an extract contains far more raw materials than an eau de parfum, which explains why, for the same bottle, the price per millilitre can vary from 1.7 to nearly 200 euros.

Doubtful figures in circulation

Morreale Paris, Le Monde sur Mesure: the house claims to have sold a bespoke perfume in 2018 for “over 1.5 million dollars”. No independent source documents this sale, hence its absence from our ranking.

Clive Christian, No.1 Passant Guardant: a crystal bottle encased in a 24-carat gold lattice set with over 2,000 white diamonds, two yellow diamonds and one pink diamond. The house presents it as the most expensive perfume in the world, but its price is “on request”. The amounts in circulation, 143,000 (in pounds or dollars depending on the version) or 228,000 dollars, have never been confirmed by the house.

Shumukh is not the “Guinness record for the most expensive perfume”: its two titles relate to the number of diamonds and the height of the spray. The title of most expensive commercially available perfume remains attributed to No.1 Imperial Majesty by Clive Christian.

Baccarat, Les Larmes Sacrées de Thèbes (1998): the pyramidal bottle topped with amethyst contained 7.5 ml and sold for 1,700 dollars, or 6,800 dollars per ounce, hence its reputation. The figure of 76,000 dollars sometimes read is not based on any source.

Henry Jacques, Lune: a 150 ml crystal bottle set with diamonds and 18-carat gold is cited at 127,000 dollars, without confirmation from the house. The same caution applies to the Baccarat edition of 24 Faubourg by Hermès, announced at 1,500 dollars per ounce in 1999 without a primary source found.

Finally, the slogan “the most expensive perfume in the world” long associated with Clive Christian’s No.1 refers to a price of 2,150 dollars per ounce often cited for 2006. Today, No1 costs 750 euros for 50 ml.

Our method

Ranking established on 29 September 2026 based on prices announced by the houses, the Guinness World Records register and documented sales. Pieces whose price is not public, such as recent exceptional editions from Guerlain, are not included.

Euro equivalents use the ECB reference rate of 29 September 2026: 1 euro for 1.1355 dollars and 0.85718 pounds, with the dirham pegged to the dollar at 3.6725. Historical prices are not adjusted for inflation.
