  • What? The Valhalla Spider, the open-top version of Aston Martin’s hybrid supercar, revealed on 28 October 2026, the day of its third-quarter results.

  • Deliveries: from the third quarter of 2027, with the order book already full into the fourth quarter of 2027; no price announced.
  • The Valhalla effect: around 350 coupés delivered in nine months, and a 37.4% gross margin in the third quarter, up from 29% a year earlier.

Aston Martin chose 28 October 2026 both to reveal the Valhalla Spider and to publish its third-quarter accounts. The hybrid supercar loses its roof, while the coupé is already lifting the carmaker’s results. Its public debut was scheduled for the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas, the weekend after the announcement.

Aston’s first open-top mid-engined car

The Gaydon carmaker presents the Valhalla Spider as its first mid-engined, open-cockpit production supercar, and its fastest open-top model. It keeps the coupé’s front end, its carbon dihedral doors, now frameless, and its carbon fibre tub designed by AMPT, the consultancy arm of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One team. Chief executive Adrian Hallmark sums up the ambition: the Spider “ticks every box”.

1,079 PS, including 251 PS electric

The 4.0-litre twin-turbo flat-plane crank V8 produces 828 PS, or 207 PS per litre, a record for an Aston Martin combustion engine. Three electric motors add 251 PS: two drive the front axle, the third assists the V8, mounted alongside the eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Together they deliver 1,079 PS and 1,100 Nm, and top speed is an electronically limited 350 km/h. With the roof fitted, the active aerodynamics generate more than 600 kg of downforce; like the stability control, they were recalibrated for roof-on and roof-off driving.

Fabric or carbon: which roof to choose?

As standard, the Valhalla Spider gets a removable black fabric roof that stows on board. With the fabric roof fitted, speed is limited to 200 km/h. To keep the full 350 km/h with a roof on, Aston Martin offers an optional carbon fibre hard top. With the roof off, a wind deflector clips in above the windscreen; folded in three, it stows in two 15-litre compartments in the sills. Inside, a new carbon Touring seat comes as standard, with the coupé’s bucket seat still available at no extra cost.

Valhalla: 350 coupés delivered in nine months

The accounts published the same day show how much the Valhalla matters. In the first nine months of 2026, Aston Martin delivered 3,762 cars to its dealers (+12%), including 352 special models against 20 a year earlier: around 350 of those specials are Valhalla coupés, with 127 delivered in the third quarter. Excluding specials, volumes rose only 2%, and fell 9% in the quarter alone. The average selling price therefore climbed to 243,000 pounds over nine months (+25%), and to 247,000 pounds in the third quarter (+39%).

A 37.4% gross margin in the third quarter

  • Revenue: 388.7 million pounds in the third quarter (+36%), 1,017.3 million over nine months (+38%).
  • Gross margin: 37.4% in the quarter against 29.0%, 35.2% over nine months against 28.3%.
  • Adjusted EBITDA: 132.6 million pounds over nine months, against 7.7 million a year earlier.
  • Pre-tax loss: 231.3 million pounds over nine months, against 252.7 million.
  • Net debt: 1,572.3 million pounds at 30 September, with liquidity of 321.6 million.

Adrian Hallmark sees “tangible and consistent progress” in the group’s financial transformation. The 2026 targets are unchanged : volumes similar to 2025 (5,448 cars), including around 500 Valhalla coupés, and a gross margin in the high 30s. The group nonetheless flags several uncertainties: US tariffs, Chinese taxes on ultra-luxury cars and the conflict in the Middle East.

When will the Spider be delivered?

Aston Martin announces first Spider deliveries in the third quarter of 2027, and its order book already runs into the fourth quarter of 2027. Nearly all remaining Valhalla coupés are ordered and will be delivered by the end of the first half of 2027: the Spider will take over. The carmaker has announced neither the price nor the number of cars to be built.
