N°21 is changing hands sixteen years after its first collection. Style Capital, a fund specialising in fashion and lifestyle, is taking over the brand, while the founder keeps designing the collections. The statement refers to a “complex corporate transaction”, without detailing its structure.

Style Capital adds N°21 to its portfolio

The announcement is dated 2 November 2026. In it, Style Capital presents N°21 as an Italian fashion brand whose creative heritage and identity it wants to build on. The fund says it wants to bring strategic, managerial and industrial expertise to support the next stage of its development.

The brand joins Zimmermann, Soeur, Autry, forte_forte, MSGM, Essential Parfums and RE/DONE, all named by the fund. Style Capital SGR is a Milan-based asset manager authorised by the Bank of Italy on 16 September 2005, formerly DGPA SGR. Its website says it targets lifestyle, fashion and luxury companies with revenue of roughly 20 to 200 million euros.

Long-time partner Gilmar leaves the capital

The statement describes Gilmar as N°21’s long-standing industrial partner and announces its exit. It gives no reason for the departure and says nothing about the manufacturer’s situation. According to several estimates, Gilmar had held 30% of the brand since 2015.

Alessandro Dell’Acqua keeps the design role

The founder remains creative director. The deal is meant to ensure the continuity of his stylistic vision and protect the brand’s creative autonomy. “I am delighted that N°21 is embarking on this new phase with Style Capital and Roberta Benaglia, an entrepreneur who has a deep understanding of the fashion industry,” says Alessandro Dell’Acqua. He sees the deal as “a significant opportunity for N°21’s growth”.

What does the fund want from N°21?

Roberta Benaglia, founder and managing partner of Style Capital, describes N°21 as “one of the most authentic and recognisable expressions of contemporary Italian creativity”. “Our aim is to support Alessandro in this new phase, while preserving his creative autonomy,” she adds. The fund is promising long-term development, built on a stronger organisation and business expansion, with product quality, a recognisable creative language and dialogue with the market at its core.

February 2010: the brand’s start in Milan

According to the brand, the first collection of N°21, written N21 on its website, was shown in February 2010 at Milan Fashion Week. Its style blends a very feminine wardrobe with touches borrowed from menswear. The first menswear collection followed in January 2014, at the 85th Pitti Uomo, and the range now covers clothing, footwear and accessories for men and women.

Born in Naples in 1962, Alessandro Dell’Acqua graduated from the city’s Academy of Fine Arts. He became creative director of Genny at 23 and showed his first collection under his own name in March 1996 in Milan. After leaving that label, he founded N°21, then led design at Rochas from 2013 to 2019. The brand has collaborated with Kartell, K-Way, 7 For All Mankind, Fila, Wolford and Scholl.

Two flagships, in Milan and Tokyo

The stores page lists two flagships: 14 Via Santo Spirito in Milan and Ginza Six in Tokyo. There are also corners in Japan, in Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka and Kyoto, in South Korea, in Seoul, Busan, Bucheon and Gwangju, and in Moscow. The brand’s first flagship opened in 2014 in Omotesando, Tokyo. According to several estimates, N°21 is also sold in more than 250 multi-brand stores.

What the statement leaves open

Several points remain without an official answer. The statement mentions neither the price, nor the exact stake acquired, nor what happens next with production. Nor does it give a timetable for the coming collections. It does not specify whether the deal covers 2112 S.r.l., the company named on the brand’s website. As of 5 November 2026, the announcement appeared neither on Style Capital’s press page nor on N°21’s About page. Also worth reading: Prada tops the third-quarter 2026 ranking.
