At a glance

  • What? In early November 2026, Audemars Piguet added three Supersonnerie minute repeaters to its catalogue: two Royal Oak models, in titanium and pink gold, and a Code 11.59 in white gold.
  • The movement: all three watches use the hand-wound calibre 2953, with 362 components and a 72-hour power reserve.
  • Sizes: 42 mm by 14 mm for the Royal Oak models, 41 mm by 13.6 mm for the Code 11.59, all water-resistant to 20 m.
  • Price: “price on request” for the two Royal Oak models, no price shown for the Code 11.59.
  • Production run: no limit on the brand’s product pages, but “Limited Edition” and “of 30 pieces” are engraved on the caseback of the Code 11.59 in its photograph.

A minute repeater chimes the time on demand, and Supersonnerie is the technology Audemars Piguet devised to amplify its sound. The three new references share the same calibre 2953: only the case, dial and strap or bracelet change.

One calibre for three watches

Three references join the catalogue: 26591TI.OO.1252TI.08 and 26591OR.OO.1252OR.01 in the Royal Oak line, and 26395BC.OO.D009CR.01 in the Code 11.59 line. The brand lists the latter among its 2026 novelties, alongside the skeleton perpetual calendar and the Royal Oak designed with Serena Williams.

Calibre 2953 measures 30 mm in diameter and 6 mm thick. It has 362 components and 32 jewels, beats at 3 Hz, or 21,600 vibrations per hour, and shows the hours, minutes and small seconds. Its power reserve reaches 72 hours, with manual winding. The interactive Royal Oak manual calls for 30 turns of the crown and states that the time cannot be set while the watch is chiming, as a safety measure.

Titanium and a smoked green Royal Oak dial

The 26591TI is made entirely of titanium, from the 42 mm case to the integrated bracelet, which closes with an AP folding clasp. Its smoked green sunburst dial is its signature. It carries a tone-on-tone sub-dial at 6 o’clock, rhodium-plated 18-carat pink gold hour markers, 18-carat white gold hands with luminescent coating and a polished inner bezel.

Brown Grande Tapisserie on 18-carat pink gold

The 26591OR has the same dimensions in 18-carat pink gold, at 14 mm thick, with an integrated bracelet in the same metal. The brown Grande Tapisserie dial gives the watch a two-tone design that the brand describes as warm. The pink gold hands and hour markers are filled with luminescent material, and the inner bezel stays brown.

Code 11.59: smoked sapphire and white gold

The third watch extends the Supersonnerie saga within the Code 11.59 collection, unveiled in 2019. Its 41 mm case in 18-carat white gold has a double-curved sapphire crystal. The grey smoked sapphire dial reveals the watch’s acoustic and mechanical architecture. White gold baton hands and a silvered-grey azuré inner bezel complete it. The grey alligator strap closes with a white gold folding clasp, and a second strap in textured grey rubber is available on request.

How Supersonnerie carries the sound

A minute repeater plays 720 sequences, one for each minute of the twelve hours. Hours sound in low notes, minutes in high notes and quarters in a combination of the two, when a slide on the side of the case sets off the hammers that strike hardened steel gongs.

In a traditional construction, these gongs are fixed to the mainplate. Here, they are attached to a device that acts as a soundboard, inspired by the body of a guitar. The case is designed to prevent sound absorption and increase amplification, and a redesigned strike regulator eliminates unwanted noise.

Eight years of research with EPFL

The patented technology dates from 2015, the year of the RD#1 prototype, after eight years of research and development with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and musicians. The Royal Oak Concept Supersonnerie went on sale in 2016 as a limited series.

Chiming is an old subject for the manufacture: its archives show that more than half of the 1,625 watches, pendant or pocket, produced between 1882 and 1892 had a striking mechanism. For context on this function, see the guide to watch complications.

Price on request, run still unclear

The brand’s website shows “price on request” for the two Royal Oak models and no amount for the Code 11.59. None of the three product pages mentions a limited series or a number of pieces. The official photograph of the Code 11.59 caseback nevertheless shows the engravings “Limited Edition” and “of 30 pieces”, without the text of the page confirming it.
