There are hotel openings, and then there are milestones that redraw the map of global luxury. The opening of Amanvari on 3 August 2026 on the East Coast of Mexico’s Baja California falls into the second category: Aman, the most secretive brand in high-end hospitality, is setting foot in Mexico for the first time, accompanied by a limited collection of branded private residences.

The Mexican venture of luxury’s most discreet brand

Combining the Sanskrit words for “peace” and “water”, Amanvari rises where ocean, desert, and estuary meet within Costa Palmas, the rising private enclave on Baja California’s East Coast. Far from the exuberance of Cabo San Lucas, Aman chooses the secluded side of the peninsula, true to its doctrine: rare locations, intuitive service, and absolute privacy. “The opening of Amanvari marks a key milestone in Aman’s continued expansion in the Americas,” sums up Vlad Doronin, Chairman and CEO of the group.
Just 18 Casitas, and residences to put down roots

Designed by Elastic Architects with an initial contribution from Heah & Co., the resort features 18 standalone waterfront Casitas: 82 sq m each, a terrace of up to 200 sq m, a 10-metre private heated pool, an outdoor shower, and a fireplace. The true real estate innovation lies in the limited-edition Aman Branded Residences, allowing brand loyalists to establish a permanent presence facing the Sea of Cortez, complete with signature Aman service and house privileges. A branded residences model that the group is now deploying across its most strategic locations.
Temazcal, omakase, and signature golf: the art of living according to Aman

The culinary offering spans four concepts: Luma with its wood-fired cooking facing the shoreline, The Lounge Bar and The Pool serving all day, the Italian restaurant Arva, a signature of the group, and Sesui, an intimate Japanese experience centred around a 10-seat omakase counter. The Aman Spa introduces a contemporary interpretation of the Temazcal, the ancestral Mexican sweat lodge, a first for the brand, alongside a banya, a hammam, and six treatment rooms. Beyond the resort, Costa Palmas spreads across 1,500 acres: organic farms, five kilometres of beach, deep-water marina, yacht club, and a Robert Trent Jones II signature golf course.

What this opening reveals about the market
With Amanvari, Aman accelerates an assertive American strategy: after New York, Vlad Doronin’s group announces Aman Miami Beach, Aman Beverly Hills, Amancaya in the Bahamas, and Amansanu in the Texas Hill Country. Experiential luxury is now paired with real estate investment, where branded residences become the flagship product for the ultra-wealthy. By settling on the still-unspoilt East Coast of Baja California, the brand also confirms the emergence of Costa Palmas as a new retreat for high-net-worth Americans, just a two-hour flight from Los Angeles. Information and reservations are available on the official Amanvari website.
