On 8 June, the prestigious brand Lima Luxury noticed a major anomaly in its Parisian stocks. A box containing four kilograms of red and white gold machining shavings had vanished. Faced with this worrying disappearance, the company immediately ordered an in-depth security inventory spanning several months of production. The findings of this internal audit confirmed the recurring disappearance of precious components intended for the assembly of high jewellery necklaces.
Suspicion quickly fell on the workshop’s flow manager, an employee responsible for coordinating goods movements with suppliers. An anomaly in the delivery route sealed his involvement: a package of raw materials, normally destined for an industrial site in Seine-et-Marne, was unusually received at the Parisian workshop under his supervision.
CCTV surveillance and the arrest in Yvelines
The recordings from the workshop’s CCTV system left no doubt about the modus operandi. On the footage, the suspect is clearly identified leaving the premises with a heavily loaded backpack. The videos show him waiting behind a door, waiting for his colleagues to move away so as not to arouse suspicion. Following this episode, the man in his thirties did not return to his post, providing a sick note before submitting his resignation.

The company filed a complaint immediately afterwards. The police investigation led to the arrest of the suspect in mid-June in the Yvelines department, at the wheel of his personal vehicle. During the search of the passenger compartment, investigators discovered part of the stolen cargo, along with a blowtorch and a thermal protection glove, equipment intended for melting precious metals.
The surprising downfall of an employee deemed exemplary
Confronted with the overwhelming evidence gathered by investigators, the father of the family quickly confessed during his police custody. He admitted to stealing the metals and confided that he had already resold part of the loot to an unidentified intermediary specialising in buying gold on the black market. The suspect’s defence insisted on the irrational nature of this isolated act, described as a real social suicide by his own lawyer.
His counsel, Me Mbeko Tabula, pointed out that his client had never caused any trouble and was previously considered an exemplary employee. It was precisely this relationship of trust and his historical professionalism that had allowed him to access this highly responsible position, where he managed flows of highly valuable raw materials on a daily basis.
