In brief

  • Beyoncé has just celebrated her 45th birthday this Friday, 4 September 2026.
  • Her recent appearances at fashion shows are limited to two Louis Vuitton menswear presentations under the Pharrell Williams era in 2023 and 2025.
  • In the early 2000s, along with Destiny’s Child, she was the main attraction on the front rows of fashion houses such as Armani, Versace and Marc Jacobs.
  • She also walked the runway as a model in 2005 in New York for the charity fashion show Fashion For Relief.

Beyoncé’s fashion shows, as she has just celebrated her 45th birthday this 4 September 2026, embody a true anthology of the allure and splendour of the front rows of the greatest couture houses. While the global star is now absolutely discreet during the various Fashion Weeks, the history of her appearances paints the portrait of an icon in constant stylistic reinvention. From the sharp streetwear silhouettes of her early days to the most exclusive haute couture pieces, the former leader of Destiny’s Child long reigned as the undisputed queen of the fashion world’s most coveted front rows.

Rarity as the ultimate luxury at Louis Vuitton

The modern era or rarity at Louis Vuitton

Since the beginning of the 2020s, Beyoncé’s appearances at fashion shows can be counted on the fingers of one hand, elevating each presence to the status of a global event. Queen Bey is extremely rare during Fashion Weeks, reserving her Parisian appearances for the menswear shows of the house of Louis Vuitton, designed by her friend Pharrell Williams. In June 2023, she made a remarkable arrival dressed in a fluid golden-yellow silk ensemble completed by bold shield sunglasses, seated on the front row on the arm of her husband Jay-Z.

In June 2025, she repeated the exercise in a radically different aesthetic, adopting the codes of her Cowboy Carter tour. It was in a cowgirl silhouette in a total raw denim look, crowned by a perfectly structured Stetson hat, that she captured the attention of photographers on the Parisian front row. This ultra-selective approach demonstrates that, for the icon, the front row is no longer a social habit but a meticulously orchestrated artistic platform.

However, Beyoncé’s relationship with Fashion Week has not always been marked by this rare distance. In the early 2000s, the artist was at every major presentation, bringing unparalleled energy and glamour to the fashion capitals. From New York to Milan, the greatest designers vied for her presence. She thus lit up the front rows of legendary houses such as Emporio Armani, Versace, Roberto Cavalli, Gianfranco Ferré, Oscar de the Renta and Marc Jacobs.

This prosperous era was often a collective affair. When she was not appearing on the arm of Jay-Z, it was surrounded by her partners from the group Destiny’s Child, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, that the artist set collection launches alight. The Destiny’s Child trio even set the Victoria’s Secret runway alight in New York in 2002. From 2003 to 2006, they also provided the entertainment at the prestigious Fashion Rocks evenings in London, a major charity event combining music and fashion, during which Beyoncé had the privilege of meeting Prince Charles, then Prince of Wales, in 2003.

From the front row to the runways of solidarity

When the icon walks the runways herself

Beyond her status as guest of honour, Beyoncé has sometimes crossed the boundary separating the front row from the runway to take on the role of model for a day. One of her most memorable appearances took place on 16 September 2005 in New York, during Olympus Fashion Week. The artist had agreed to walk for the Fashion For Relief initiative, a charity show launched to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, which had just devastated the southern United States.

For this solemn occasion, the singer took to the runway in a sumptuous black strapless dress adorned with delicate baroque-inspired rhinestone embroidery. She closed the show in a black strapless dress embroidered with baroque rhinestones alongside Naomi Campbell and Veronica Webb, surrounded by legendary figures of the era, including Iman and Linda Evangelista. A memorable style performance in service of a major humanitarian cause.

A story of style and family transmission

Family heritage and the House of Deréon adventure

Fashion is also seen as a collective and family adventure for the Knowles family. Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, as well as her sister Solange, very often shared these creative moments on the front row of fashion shows. It was on the strength of this maternal heritage that the Crazy in Love singer tried her hand at fashion design in the mid-2000s, alongside her first major roles on the big screen in Austin Powers or The Pink Panther.

In close collaboration with her mother, she launched the House of Deréon label. The House of Deréon label paid a vibrant tribute to the artist’s grandmother, Agnèz Deréon, who worked as a seamstress. The highlight of this entrepreneurial adventure, the mother-daughter duo organised an exclusive fashion show in London in spring 2011, which they closed together, hand in hand, dressed in monochrome black silhouettes of timeless elegance.
