On Monday 26 October 2026, the city of Mulhouse welcomes an exceptional gathering at Place de la Réunion with the public presentation of eight emblematic hypercars from the Bugatti brand. Organized as a prelude to the winter season of the famous Collection Schlumpf, this international event brings together exceptional models from the “Pearl Collection”, the private garage of Swiss businessman and enthusiast Fritz Burkard.
This unprecedented gathering in the heart of the Alsatian city offers a rare opportunity to admire the technological excellence and avant-garde design of the Molsheim manufacturer. The event forms part of the major automotive showcases that enliven the region’s cultural and tourist life, affirming once again the unfailing link uniting Alsace with the history of high-performance automobiles.
A route taking in track, factory, and historic centre
The particularly packed programme for this memorable day begins in the morning in central Alsace, combining a passion for driving with the celebration of industrial heritage. From 11:00, the cars take to the track at the Anneau du Rhin circuit in Biltzheim for two hours of flying laps, offering a striking audio and visual spectacle where the raw power of the engines can be fully unleashed on the asphalt.
Following this closed-circuit session, the convoy heads towards Molsheim, the historic home and spiritual birthplace of the motor manufacturer. A symbolically powerful stop is organized from 14:00 to 15:00 in the heart of the factory facilities originally founded by Ettore Bugatti, offering a return to the roots for these exceptional contemporary creations.
After this historic visit to the Alsatian industrial site, the vehicles make their way to the historic heart of Mulhouse. The main public exhibition takes place in the town centre, at Place de la Réunion, from 16:45 to 17:45. This urban interlude allows the general public, enthusiasts, and the curious to closely observe the sculpted bodylines and finishing details of these extraordinary vehicles, just before their final transfer to the reserves and permanent exhibition spaces of the Musée National de l’Automobile Collection Schlumpf.
The figureheads of Molsheim’s contemporary saga
Exceptional hypercars brought together in the heart of the city
The line-up assembled for this remarkable urban presentation spans several decades of high-level sports engineering and technological innovation. Among the eight prestige vehicles lined up in the city centre will be the EB110, witnessing the brand’s rebirth in Campogalliano, the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, the embodiment of open-top power, the Chiron, as well as highly sought-after limited editions such as the Divo, Centodieci, Chiron Pur Sport, Chiron Super Sport 300+, and the Mistral roadster.
For its part, the radical Bugatti Bolide remains exclusively reserved for dynamic sessions organized on the Anneau du Rhin track. Due to its pure competition-oriented design and extreme aerodynamics, this track-only model will not take the road network leading to Place de la Réunion, but will instead directly join the winter exhibition programme at the Mulhouse museum.
Excellence in automotive engineering and craftsmanship
The display of these exceptional models at Place de la Réunion highlights craftsmanship unrivalled anywhere in the global automotive landscape. Each vehicle presented embodies an ongoing quest for ultimate performance, where the most advanced composite materials rub shoulders with the most meticulous manual assembly. From carbon fibre structural elements to bespoke mechanical components, the brand’s production relies on an exemplary standard of excellence.
Bringing together limited series and ultra-high-performance models simultaneously offers observers a comprehensive overview of the manufacturer’s development capabilities. Whether seeking aerodynamic downforce for the circuit or maximum straight-line speed, these models illustrate the variety of technical directions explored throughout Molsheim’s contemporary saga.
A foretaste of the Schlumpf Museum’s winter season
A tribute to Bugatti heritage and the Collection Schlumpf
This major initiative serves as a spectacular prelude to the main temporary exhibition at the Musée National de l’Automobile in Mulhouse, an essential institution that will bring together a total of eleven vehicles from the famous Alsatian marque for the occasion. Joining the nine contemporary models taking part in the event are two major historical pieces preserved by the collection: the Type 10 prototype dating from 1908 and the Type 1, nicknamed the tricycle.
The presentation takes on an unprecedented heritage dimension, as several of these extremely rare chassis are being shown to the general public for the very first time. Highlighting Ettore Bugatti’s pioneering early developments alongside the most advanced modern creations allows visitors to observe the technical, stylistic, and conceptual evolution of the Alsatian marque over more than a century.
Mulhouse, global capital of automotive heritage
Holding this event in the heart of Mulhouse serves as a reminder of the central role played by the Alsatian city in safeguarding global automotive history. Home to the world-renowned Collection Schlumpf, the Mulhouse museum stands as a benchmark destination for enthusiasts around the globe, preserving the most precious artefacts from the history of transport and motorsport.
By hosting contemporary creations from the Pearl Collection in its historic centre and subsequently in the museum halls, the city asserts the continuity between its textile and mechanical industrial past and contemporary high-performance vehicle culture. This temporary showcase reinforces the cultural influence of the region while dynamically highlighting the institution’s permanent collections.
The preservation philosophy of collector Fritz Burkard
Based in Zug, Switzerland, collector Fritz Burkard has established himself as a respected figure in the international automotive world through his deep conviction that vehicles should be maintained in strictly original condition. The cars assembled within his Pearl Collection jealously retain their mechanical patina and period coachwork without undergoing heavy or altering restorations.
This rigorous and authentic approach to preserving rolling heritage was recognized worldwide at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in 2024. The highly coveted Best of Show award was bestowed upon his legendary 1934 Bugatti Type 59. This historic distinction marked the first victory for a vehicle competing in the “preservation” category, as well as the very first success for a European collector at this major Californian event.
