This transformation, carried out in collaboration with the design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), combines traditional Balinese craftsmanship with a contemporary residential aesthetic. Through this major renovation, the five-star establishment reaffirms its position as an icon of sustainable luxury and serenity in the heart of the jungle.
The art of organic design at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan
Originally designed to blend seamlessly into the topography of the Ayung River valley, the resort is taking a new step forward. In collaboration with the internationally renowned firm Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), the establishment has redesigned its living spaces to meet the expectations of today’s discerning travellers. The interiors enhance the hotel’s iconic suspended rice bowl architecture, whilst weaving an intimate connection with the surrounding nature. Each suite features a colour palette that pays tribute to the spectacular landscapes visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Light, earthy tones, inspired by the rice fields of Ubud, are enhanced by the depth of dark teak wood and hand-woven textiles.

For couples seeking privacy, the Premier Duplex suite stands out as an architectural response of great elegance. The suite unfolds over two levels totalling 85 square metres, opening first onto a light-filled living and lounge area, before leading to a bedroom designed as a sanctuary of teak and artisanal fabrics. A private sun terrace allows guests to enjoy the murmur of the river, creating an atmosphere of total seclusion. The discreet integration of state-of-the-art home automation technologies, such as LUTRON lighting systems, blends into the decor without ever disrupting the clean aesthetic of the space.
A family suite designed for all generations
Anxious to welcome families in the best possible conditions, the establishment has also created the Premier Family suite. The Premier Family suite places a custom-made children’s bedroom at the heart of the experience. Located in the resort’s main building, in the immediate vicinity of the restaurants and the Sacred River Spa, these suites combine a vast living space with unobstructed panoramas of the valley. This configuration allows parents to relax while the younger ones explore their own dedicated space.

True to its philosophy of environmental respect, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan chose an eco-responsible approach for this metamorphosis. The establishment chose to optimise and restore the existing structure, thereby considerably limiting the carbon footprint of the construction site and the consumption of new resources. The new materials were rigorously selected for their durability and come mainly from local sources. In addition, the new-generation air conditioning uses environmentally friendly refrigerants, and all lighting relies on low-energy LED technologies. Didier Jardin, General Manager of the resort, states: « These suites embody the essence of Sayan, namely a pioneering design in absolute harmony with nature. Waking up in these spaces, lulled by the current of the river and surrounded by the valley, is an incomparable experience. »
